The One Thing on Your Sales Page Stopping Clients From Giving You Their Money
You go to all that work of crafting a great sales page and then JAM! Your ‘buy now’ button is turning away clients in droves.
Because you slapped up the standard Paypal ‘Buy Now’ Button.
Which is why I need to stop you. Right now. And show you how to make your own custom payment button.
Step 1: open up a word processor (I use Pages) and create a simple button.
1A: make a red rectangle shape.
Note: it had better be red or some hue of red. Don’t make me come over there.
2A. add call-to-action text.
Note: ‘buy now’ is passé. Use phrases like ‘Secure your spot’, ‘Grab your copy’, ‘Get your ticket now’, and so on.
3A. grab a screen shot of the button (on Mac it’s command + shift + 4 and then make a selection and right click with mouse). You now have your custom image for a ‘buy now’ button.
Step 2: take that screenshot and upload it as media to your WordPress blog (or you can host it on a site like Photobucket).
2A. you can edit/crop the button at this point by clicking ‘edit image’.
Step 3: copy the file url from right side bar.
Step 4: go to your Paypal account and create your button as you normally would.
Step 5: in first section expand ‘customize text or appearance’.
5A. click ‘use your own button image’.
5B. paste your file URL into the box.
Step 6: click ‘create button’ and get embed code.
Step 7: paste into the ‘text’ tab of your sales page/blog post/product page.
Step 8: click the ‘visual’ tab and you should see your new custom image buy now button. (Click it to make sure it gets directed back to your Paypal button. Testing FTW.)
